2-DAY SEMINAR:


Functional Adaptability: Dynamic adjustments that complement an organism’s form and function.


Constraining to Afford: Manipulations of individual, task performed, or environment to create movement solutions guided by the individual’s unique experience and capabilities.


Day One: First half of day one is interactive classroom lecture. Presentation of simple peer reviewed science of how the brain solves problems and the difference between finding solutions with without emotional stress.


Day One (Second Half) and Day Two: Takes place in defensive tactics room where as groups and individuals you will implement design strategies to build training which other participants will experiment with and evaluate.


Topics Discussed: Defense against strikes, clinch work, takedowns, ground control, ground escapes, weapon introduction and protection (standing and on ground).


Required Gear: Duty belt, boxing and MMA gloves (we can provide these if needed), mouthpiece, elbow and knee pads (we don’t have these so you must bring them).


Fitness Level Requirements: Basic level of physical fitness. This class is about learning to design and teach functional adaptability which means all training can be scaled for any experience level. Hint: This style of training reduces risk of injury.


Target audience: Defensive tactics and firearms instructors looking to add functional adaptability (problem solving on the fly) into training.
